This plaster is made by calcining gypsum, a process which involves exposing the gypsum to very high temperatures to create calcium sulfate and then grinding it into a fine off white to white powder. When water is added to the powder to make a slurry, the slurry can be molded in a variety of ways, and as it sets, a firm matrix is created, creating a solid shape which is also very smooth. One advantage to plaster of Paris is that there is no volume loss, so casts made with this plaster are true to the size of the mold.

Pulverized talc has wide industrial applications as filler in rubber, textile, plastic, linoleum, asbestos products, polishes and soaps; as a loading agent for paper of all kinds; as a carrier of insecticidal and pesticidal dusts and for coating calcium ammonium fertilizer  Most of the rubber manufacturers use talc powder as a lubricant to prevent ungalvanized rubber goods from sticking. Marble Dust (Calcium Carbonate Marble Powder)

Go  Minerals white Marble Dust is the finest grind available. The French refer to its granular size as "intangible." Marble Dust or Flour is used in grounds and is often added to oil paints for textural and handling qualities without perceptibly changing the tint. Used for the Fresco Intonaco layer, also polished lime plasters and faux marbles. Although sharing the same chemical composition as Chalk Whiting, Marble Dust is very different in its crystalline structure. Because it was formed under great metamorphic pressure, Marble Dust is purer, harder, denser and less absorbent than Chalk Whiting. This makes it ideal for certain applications where hardness and polish are desired. 



Our Marble Dust can be used to make acrylic modeling paste, glue base gesso, and all water and oil dispersed paints. Use it also to create a textured surface for drawing. It is made from pH neutral basic calcium carbonate.
